End of the Century
Sunday, November 7th, 2004Went to see End of the Century, The Story of The Ramones. It was playing at the CIA Cinematheque. The crowd was mixed with teenagers, college students, and people over thirty (yeah, I’m in that category now).
I knew The Ramones did not get along, but I didn’t know that they REALLY didn’t get along. Clashing personalities, stolen girlfriends, and seeing others benefit from your work (while you don’t receive what you believe you deserve) all contributed to the in-fighting.
This documentary does a good job of showing you what it was like in Queens/NYC in the ’70s, and how The Ramones came together to be American icons. It also shows the viewer the inside drama and frailties of the members.
Next up. Gabba Gabba Hey! - the musical.
