So it’s the weekend again. This semester has been crazy busy. 2 more weeks and it’s over (for a week).
Lets see. This week I had another show on Monday morning. I met with the Art & Science advisor to make sure I can finish this summer. I can, but I have to take 1 more class than I expected. This summer I’ll have Mediation and Contemporary Urban Issues. The urban studies course will satisfy a writing requirement and it’s the only good writing class offered in the summer. I will be done in August this summer. It’s strange to actually be finishing college up. It has taken many years and sidetracks to get to this point. This last semester has been a killer in the amount of time required to do the work and I’ll be glad when it’s all over.
On a higher note, Les Breastfeeders will be playing here in CLE on June 15 at The Beachland Ballroom. We negotiated a fair arrangement for both sides. It will be a benefit for WCSB. Still arraigning the opening slot(s) and handbills. The CMJ/Rock Hall Fest is the week before, so we should be able to get the word out to a lot of people.
Show on Monday (7 - 9 EST). R.I.P. Hasil Adkins
The Pixies will be opening up the CMJ/Rock Hall Fest. They’ll be playing at the Rock Hall and later the same night at the festival village.
Still no word on the local college stations involvement in the event. I know WCSB is planning on having some of the bands come to the station to play, but nothing official associated with the festival has been established.
Come on CMJ get off your duff. Get this thing done and stop worrying about your fall festival in NYC.
I am turning off commenting on the older journal entries here on the site. I am sick of deleting comment spam for poker. Most of it is automatically deleted by the WordPress software, but it does miss some and I have to go in a check on it once and a while.
I figure the easiest way to keep it from getting in is to not let them post.
It has been a few weeks since I posted here, but I do update my playlist each week I do the show. The MP3 streams are usually available by the next day.
There are plenty of good shows coming up. John Doe this Thursday at The Beachland Ballroom. He’s doing an in-store at Music Saves a couple of doors down before the show as well. I hope the X poster I ordered comes in before then, so I can ask him to sign it.
The CMJ/Rock Hall Fest artists have not been announced yet, but The Beachland has posted 3 that they’ll have. Stephen Malkmus, Spoon, and Chuck Prophet.
Les Breastfeeders are going to do a Great Lakes/Mid-West tour in mid-June. Hopefully they’ll be able to schedule some time to do a WCSB performance.
