Today’s playlist has been posted and the MP3 streams are being uploaded now.
Had some good callers today saying they liked the show. Gave away tickets to the Tough & Lovely and Kiddo show this weekend at The Beachland Ballroom.
Have a good week!
So, I’ve been working on the redesign of the WCSB web site.
I think it’s going pretty good. I need to get the color scheme down. I want to stick with black and white, but I need some other colors thrown in there for highlighting.
I figured out how to create a calendar dynamically since the last time I posted here. Right now this just pulls the show information from a database and puts it into a table. I haven’t done any “real” formatting of the table yet.
I was talking with Tommy Fox last night about the calendar. WRUW put their spring show listing in a huge ad in The Free Times this week. I pointed out how their listing has each day starting at Midnight. That makes sense to me. The current WCSB calendar starts at 7:00 am (on a Monday). Tommy likes that. I think it’s confusing. When you’re at the bottom of the page you’re not looking at the same day (in a column) as the top.
What do you think? I like the calendar starting on Sunday at midnight. I need feedback.
Today was the first Monday 7 to 9 a.m. edition of the show on WCSB.
I think it went pretty good. There was only one call asking where Chris & Thea were. A few people called and asked what was playing at different times. It was kind of like the 3-hour show I do only smashed into 2 hours.
Anyway, the playlist has been posted. I’m working on the WCSB site redesign in my extra time. I have dynamic show listings made for by day choices, but the matrix of all shows is a pain. I want to be able to have it dynamically created from a database, but the shows don’t all start and end at the same times. This is making it hard to figure out how to create row spans in the table. Anyone out there done this before (dynamically)?
The latest playlsit has been updated.
This was the last Wednesday morning show. I enjoyed my early time slot, but I’m very much looking forward to the extra hours of sleep. I know listernship (is that a word?) picks up around 6 and 7 so I’m glad to play my picks for the masses.
Today I played a track from the new Sub Pop release by Jennifer Gentle. They’re a band from Italy. I liked the track that I played “I Do Dream You”. I’ll have to check out the rest of the album. The only other new release that I haven’t played before was a track from Super Furry Animals new singles compilation.
I’m looking forward to the new day and time of my show on WCSB. 4 to 7 was a good time. Apprenticing with Joe overnight got me into the late-night/early-morning listeners. I could play stuff I won’t be able to play in the new slot. ….Hmmm: note to self. Maybe this last show should consist of all songs I won’t be able to play on the new show. I was thinking of just doing a “Best of”, but who knows.
Boogie Pop or “_” has a nice welcome for me posted in his blog. He as the show on Mondays 9 - 11, and I’ll be “the openning act” for.
I had my first classes of the new semester last night. I’m taking Communications Inquiry (research) and Negotiation. I think COM Inquiry will get tedious, but I like science so it may be good. The Negotiation class is being taught by a lawyer, so I’m sure he’ll have a lot of real world experience. There is only one other person in the class that has taken the prerequisite class besides me. It may take awhile for the other’s to get up to speed on conflict management. That will be a drag.
Just 16 more weeks till the semester is over!
The playlist from today’s show has been posted.
There’s a lot of country in today’s list. I’m at school tonight so the MP3 streams won’t be posted till tomorrow.
I just got email notifiction from the new Program Director at WCSB that I get to take over the Monday 7 to 9 a.m. spot.
Assholier Than Thou is ending.
My first show in the new time slot is January 31st. See you all then!
P.S.
I’m also taking over the web site development. No timetable set yet for a change, but it is supposed to happen very soon.
Today’s playlist has been posted.
A few new entries to the usual mix and some old favorites still popped in. Included are new releases from Low, Graham Coxon, and Ulysses.
Went to my side of the family’s Christmas get together. This was the only time we could get everyone together since we’re spread across the state. It was nice seeing everyone.
I got a Pittsburgh Penguins vest. It’s nice, but I’m sure the weather won’t allow me to use it until atleast March (stupid Smarch).
We tried going to the Machine Go Boom/Kiddo show last night at The Beachland Ballroom, but it was sold out. Good for them. It’s good to see the local bands getting support like that (even if the show cost you .99 cents).
So we went over to the new records store by the Beachland called Music Saves. A nice selection of indie rock with a little vinyl thrown in. We bought a Kiddo CD.
